Harry Potter World was beyond my wildest dreams! My fantasies came alive right before my eyes! Olivander’s, Honeydukes, Hog’s Head, the Hogwarts Express! And the scale-down replica of Hogwarts was beautiful! Hogsmeade was fascinating and I haven’t felt so happy in such a long time! I tried the butterbeer! It was like cream soda combined with root beer, with a thick foamy head that tasted so creamy! And the best part had to be the Harry Potter flight simulator ride! The line to it was decorated with talking and moving portraits, holograms of Dumbledore, Harry, Hermione, and Ron, the Sorting Hat! And the actual ride felt so freeing that you forgot you were in a buckled down seat; you felt like you were flying! And our dynamic trio was there to guide you through an attack by the Hungarian Horntail, Aragog’s lair in the Forbidden Forest, the Whomping Willow, a Quidditch game, and a battalion of Dementors. It mixed CGI/Imax screens and animatronic environments, swooshing and sailing through dangers before finally coming home to the Great Hall. And then the Dragon Challenge presented a fun roller coaster: two separate rails, the Chinese Fireball and the Hungarian Horntail. Loops and turns with instances where you thought you were going to collide with the other! Swoosh! You miss them by a thread, diving down, corkscrewing, looping!
I acquired a Gryffindor robe and scarf and a wand, and proceeded to spend the whole day dressed in that garb. Joy! My inner nerdiness found satisfaction and even more proof that Harry Potter beats the hell out of Twilight and hangs it out to dry.
We continued to explore. We rode the Incredible Hulk—a particularly wild coaster, and then the Spiderman, and then my favorite, The Revenge of the Mummy. However, it was different from the one in Hollywood in that after you went through the wild part of the ride, it didn’t make you go through it backwards. It proved very fun otherwise. We went through Twister, but we decided against going on the Jurassic Park and Jaws ride because there was a chance we would get wet and it was far too cold to do that. Yeah, the week we choose to go to an amusement park is when a bad cold snap hits Orlando. -_-;;;
But I’m not complaining! I had such a fantastic time! I will be posting a few of the photographs taken, if my scanner at home will cooperate with me.
