WARNING. FOAMY-WORTHY RANT AHEAD. DON’T READ IF YOU GET OFFENDED EASILY.
First of all, if you’re daft enough to store such sensitive information on ANY kind of medium like that, you’re just asking for trouble. Don’t go bitching at Sony for your lack of judgement. Stop and think and shoulder some of the blame yourselves.
Secondly, there probably isn’t any kind of electronic that can’t get hacked, some way or somehow. Sony just had the misfortune of being the first to fall victim to a hacker. If it were Nintendo or Microsoft that fell victim first, we’d have the same drama llamas slinging mud and boo-hooing about how the ‘evil corporation’ who, mind you, you decided to leave with sensitive information with, has fallen victim to the inevitable. Refer to lack of common sense posted above. Hackers are constantly developing new ways to work around all the firewalls and security systems. As long as there is technology, there will be hackers.
Thirdly, don’t you people think Sony is suffering enough from this already? The company is trying to right their mistakes and will most likely learn from them. Do the world a favor, cancel your credit cards, and learn form your mistakes. There is no sense whatsoever to keep beating a dead horse. Credit card theft happens every day through many mediums, so suck it up and do what you need to do. Don’t leave every damn thing up to the company.
Lastly, I realize you have a right to be mad. However, if you want the problem to be fixed, how about trying to show a little support and work with Sony instead of constantly antagonizing it? The mechanic can’t fix your car if you’re standing over him, throwing insults.
Lessons learned: What you do with your sensitive information is YOUR responsibility. Anything electronic, anywhere, anytime, can be hacked; hacking has been occuring since the dawn of modern technology. Life is not always peaches and cream——manure occureth; grow a pair of bullocks, grit your teeth, quit wanking off, do what you can to fix YOUR part of the problem, and learn from your mistakes.
Have a nice life you bloody gits.
